Alpujarra, Granada and surroundings
What to do
Órgiva
Pleasant village and centre of the Alpujarras in Granada province. A wide range of restaurants and bars where you can taste local cuisine. These are some of our regional products: jamón serrano, black pudding, olives, olive oil, goat cheese, oranges and even avocados, custard apples, papaya and kaki, growing excellently here due to the subtropical micro climate.
Most of the region’s services are to be found in Órgiva and there are supermarkets, bakeries, a butcher shop, a fish shop, fruit and veg shops, drug stores and a hospital. There is a market every Thursday morning.
A lot of hiking, cycling and mountain biking tracks start in Órgiva. Horse-riding, rock climbing or rafting on the Guadalfeo river are other possible activities.
Lanjarón
It’s the gateway of the Alpujarra region and renowned for its springs and spa in Neomudéjar style. Thousand of people come to the Water festival in the night of June 21st each year. Other sights really worth a visit are the Park, the ruins of the Arab castle and the picturesque main street. and music festival Lanjarock in August. Market on Friday.
In summer time the village is filled with activities such as the Medieval market, outdoor cinema in the park, music festival Lanjarock etc. Friday is market day.
From Lanjarón start various spectacular and amazing hiking and MTB routes such as Sendero de Tello, el Sendero Cerecillo- Mezquerina. In April the village organises a MTB race and in September a Gran Fondo cycling race, the Alpujarra Magna.
Pampaneira, Bubión y Capileira
Cabo de Gata-Níjar
Río verde
Parque natural de Sierra Nevada
Possessing 86,208 hectares, it is Spain’s largest national park. It is the highest mountain range of the Iberian Peninsula and only the Alps are higher in all of Western Europe. The Mulhacén (3,482 m) is the Sierra Nevada’s highest mountain.
Activities amongst others are: hiking, cycling, mountain biking, rock climbing, skiing, cross-country skiing and horse-riding. From Capileira and Trevélez you can start climbing to the top of Mulhacén and Veleta, the second highest peak.
Welcoming mountain villages offering lots of outdoor activities such as Monachil and Güejar Sierra, are definitely worth a stop.
Granada and the Alhambra
You simply can’t get used to Granada‘s beauty. It’s one of Spain’s most visited cities and its Alhambra is definitely one of Europe’s most important and most visited monuments. Together with the Generalife gardens and the neighbourhood of Albaicín. Other neighbourhoods you shouldn’t miss are the centre with the Cathedral, el Realejo and Sacromonte.
Puerto de la Ragua
Valle de Lecrín
Sun and Sea
Salobreña, La Herradura, Almuñécar and Nerja boast some of the most wonderful beaches of Granada and Málaga provinces. On top of that, Nerja has some impressive caves to explore and the Balcony of Europe, situated at a cliff over the Mediterranean Sea.
Jeroen
Travelling is one of the things I like most in life. I prefer to take my time and take it easy when travelling so I can get to know well the countries and cultures I visit. In Champasak I would like to reflect this kind of travelling into a stressless way of life which gives us the time to enjoy the little things in life.
With Champasak I aim to create a place where I would like to stay when travelling. A warm and pleasant place where guests feel right at home and are helped with a smile.
I am Belgian, multilingual and right now I can say I know this beautiful region I live in like the back of my hand. Another little paradise lies in the south of Laos, on the banks of the Mekong river. This stunning, godforsaken village is called Champasak.
Our guests giving their opinion
We’ll see you in the Alpujarra!
A unique place surrounded by mountains, halfway between the Tropical Coast and the City of Granada and its Alhambra.
